Can someone explain what is so special about windows 7. I was all hyped up about getting it... and i just installed it yesterday but i don't understand what is so different from vista. When i made the switch from XP to Vista, that was a huge change in the way things look...?

No HUGE change in the way things look. There are some minor changes.

1.) Gadgets are free to be anywhere on the desktop.
2.) Bloatware icons are better organized with hidden icons
3.) Taskbar icons can be pinned with right click accelerators.

There are some others too, but eye candy wise you don't get much more. The big changes are behind the background. Better memory management, smaller footprint, better overall resource usage etc. So in all Windows7 uses way less overhead and can even run acceptably on lesser systems.

Win7 alows the proliferation of the thin and lights without resorting to XP for great performance. It will also alow for cheaper base cost desktop and laptop systems while still delivering full performance.

Also along the way OS stability is extreemly high. You can boot and use the system without the ever knawing feeling the OS will fail you somewhere along the way. So essentially Win7 is what Vista should have been all along.......

I thought the same thing about #1 also, but you can put them anywhere on vista, just by default the gadgets are off the sidebar in 7. I personally didnt have any issues with vista

Unfortunately, Windows 7 is mostly hype. Is it better than Vista? Yes. Is it anywhere near as good as many will tell you? Not even close; I too realized a similar disappointment after installing Windows 7 and realizing that it wasnt nearly as good as so many people me believe.

Personally I like it more than Vista (couldn't stand using that as it wasn't even optimized properly). But I guess its down to personal preference, if I had the chance I'll keep XP forever...but that's just me

its windows, its an evolution on more of the same windows ideas. biggest and most notable improvement imo is the new task bar. not to sound like a mac user but "it just works."
