Could glare screen sparkle be mistaken for screen graininess?

No, I don't think so, but please expand on this "glare screen sparkle". I have never heard of it.

hmm, well since the glare screen is a piece of plastic, when light from the lcd hits it, it might give sort of a prism effect and give some sparkle look. well basically, i am just asking maybe it could be the glare shield is causing grainy looks. cuz i have a seen a but of mattes that dont look grainy at all.

OK. I really do not think this has anything to do with the screen being glossy. I remember that changing color bit modes produces slightly different affects, as well as some shades of color are not affected by this. However, I have noticed that depending on your vertical viewing angle, and the color on the screen, the effect may become greater or less noticeable.

As people have suggested, I think it has something to do with the screen not being able to show all the colors it is supposed to, and therefore it blends between the two closest shades. It looks more like a difference between shades of color rather than any kind of light reflecting off the glossy lcd. Will be hooking up to an external CRT momentarily.
