My M50 is my first Asus laptop and it has been a real lemon so far. Was the M50 simply bad, or was I unlucky?

This newest problem might kill it though. I am getting blue vertical lines running along white sections of the screen. So on this website, all the white areas get the lines, but nothing else. The lines don't appear in images, only on the white parts of text screens, or folders in windows. They go away if I adjust the screen (its taking more and more adjustment to get it to go away now). Is it a bad connection to the screen, or something else? I don't suppose there's a simple fix?

What do you mean "adjust"? Resolution? Or just fiddling with it? It might be the ribbon cable not plugged in tightly, or a faulty panel. Do you get the same thing when using an external monitor? That will tell you if it's the panel or the motherboard/video.

I have to physically move the screen to get it to go away. I'll try the external monitor, that's a good idea.

edit-tried the external monitor, the problem doesn't show up there, so its either the cable or panel on the laptop. I'll have to open it up later and check the ribbon cable.

I hear that yes, it was. But mostly for heat and power draw...
