Normally, I am getting frame rates of between 70-100 fps in World of Warcraft. However, when my Asus G1S (only 20 days old) heats up (as indicated by louder fans), the frame rate drops to 0.25 fps. No, I did not misplace a decimal point! The frame rate drops to a quarter frame per second, or about one frame every four seconds. Near as I remember, my first computer, an Apple II, had a faster frame rate than this.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Or is my laptop defective? I have it sitting on an external cooling pad with two fans, but this doesn't help much.

I am currently running rev 163.75 graphics drivers with the laptop2go.com custom INF file.

Is there anything I can try to troubleshoot this problem?

What is your temprature at when you do hit .25 fps?

I would suggest using different drivers just to see if its the actual drivers that might be causing this. Also, is the same issue occuring with different/lower resolution?

Yes, to be on the safe side use the stock drivers to test the framerate.

Another idea: Maybe dust has accumulated in the laptop, the GPU is overheating and then throttling down to cool.

I am trying to run RivaTuner v2.05 and have moved through each tab. Can't find a tab which displays temperature.

Here is what I see when I run RivaTuner. Also, after installation of RivaTuner v2.05, "RivaTuner" is the only application file (besides "Uninstall") that I can run from that directory, so I'm assuming I am running the right thing.

    See attached.

Is there a way to see if the GPU is throttling down intentionally?
