Hey so I have an Asus W3V, which has thus suited me very well until last week when I booted up, my screen instead of being black is green, the thing is that I can see things, as in I am able to see the windows screen and everything once it boots up, and while its booting up, the only thing is that most of the blacks are replaced by green and the other colors flicker a bit too (primarily blues). Other colors for the most part are on. I took the keyboard off (according to instructions) and checked the video cable to the monitor to make sure it hadn't come loose, it was in alright, I pulled it out and put it back in for good measure and put everything back. The same problem continues. So now I'm basically without the screen on my laptop as I use my external LCD monitor which shows colors just fine (off my VGA out). Any idea on what is the problem, anything I can do to fix this??? I just had my screen replaced in May of this year as part of the warrenty but now the warranty is up....Sooooo a little help? Thanks!

    Hi,

It does look like a connection problem on the LCD coax (signal) cable. Are you sure you reconnected the LCD coax cable, and not the inverter cable? These are two different cables that go from mainboard to the screen, one provides signal and the latter provides control signals for the inverter, which in turn powers the backlight.

Note the connection problem may also be on the monitor's side, where the coax cable also plugs in via connector.

If reconnecting doesn't help, I suggest trying to get a new cable (this component is cheap). ASUS eStore or one of the resellers may help. Be aware when choosing a cable that not only the laptop model must match, but also the LCD manufacturer (AFAIK). So first identify your LCD manuf.

If replacing the cable doesn't do it, I'm afraid it's most likely the problem is with the LCD itself... which would be quite expensive to replace, and in which case you may consider a new laptop instead.

yeah, I checked both cables that go into the mother board, how would I check the cable connection on the other end? I dont wanna mess this thing up more than it already is. Thanks
