I just bought a Seagate Momentus 500 GB version 7200.4, and I was wondering if I needed a jumper for it or could the drive run at 3 GB/s?

SATA drives don't tend to have jumpers - my understanding is the motherboard interface is involved in whether the drive will run at SATA I or II speeds....

In the end it doesn't add up to much, as even the fastest current spindle drives can't come close to saturating even the 1.5GB/s bandwidth - so even if the drive does interface at 3.0 the max read speed isn't going to go up and is still going to stay below 125Mb/sec.

Some of the brand new SLC-type SSD's are starting to come close to breaching the SATA1 threshold.

So if the current drive in my G1S has one of the jumper connectors in the two pins, should I put that into the momentus drive i just bought?
