ok so i went to the best buy website and the cnet.com website and both claim that the hdd in this model is 5400 rpm. Is this true?

i just wanted to know because the two reviews on this website on the x1 both claim that the hdd is 7200rpm. ???

really weird, to me i think that best buy screwed up and accidentally wrote it on the site and cnet just copies the specs from best buy. hopefully it is a 320 GB 7200 rpm HDD!!

so pls any x1 owners, can u tell me from ur own computer if it is a 5400 or a 7200??

The chasis is designed for two, but I don't see any info on BB website.
    Users, could you verify ?

Yes, it can take two harddrives, but you'll need to buy the G50V-1A HDD BRACKET ASSY for it.

It would look something similar to this:

The 2nd image above is just an example, not the actual HDD Bracket for the G50 series.

Do you have to use the one from Asus? Does anyone know the ODM for this laptop and if so, where or what to order for this bracket as Asus seems to always be out of stock for this?

The ODM is Asus. Asus manufactures their own notebooks. There is currently no other place to purchase the HDD caddy other than from Asus. There may be some available from other countries, but I'm sure the shipping costs would make your purchase very unreasonable.

It's possible, but I don't think anyone has tried nor if it is confirmed to work.

I called Asus parts and had them put me on the waiting list. Took about two weeks and I got the email saying the bracket were in. I ordered mine and got it within a week.
