    I just opened my W3J to install the new harddrive but it looks like tthe film on the existing hard drive ie needed?? There is a piece of film on the existing hard drive I mean. Do I need to take that off the existing drive?

    See the copper plating under the lid if you put another drive in without the plastic protector, the drive will be sitting against the copper plating and your system will not boot.

    So yes you do, iff you need to know more about swapping your HDD check out this thread.
