    Hi Guys,
I just got my G51VX-A1 and I updated the driver to 186.81 WHQL driver.
I started getting these artefacts from boot screen and a different one after windows starts. Pics attached
    Any ideas???
Is it some sort of a virus or is the 260M defective?

If it happens during boot, the GPU is defective. It's worrying to see these defective GPU's showing up more frequently. Seems nVidia GPU's still have issues dying easily.

Oh!!!! that sucks. I had been waiting to get this laptop and after almost a months wait got it....now this..

Could it be anything else as there is that pattern on boot (img1) then it goes away completely and then comes back on windows login screen and stays thereafter (img3 and zoom in img2).

I'm fairly certain it's your video card. Those kind of artifacts usually show up when the GPU solder joint is coming loose. Call the retailer you bought it from and request an overnight RMA. Don't deal with Asus, it will cost you another 2-4 weeks of wait time. Or better yet, return it, get a full refund and pre-order the G51J since it's almost due for release and will have an i7.
