    HELP! can i change to a T6400 processor?

    I'm using a ASUS F9J currently using a T5300 processor

    According to cpuz my motherboard chipset is i945PM and also Socket 479 mPGA

    can i swap it for a T6400? its in a garage sale and i wana get it.

    AFAIK, you can't do it. T5300 is a Merom CPU, while the T6400 is a Penryn. 2 different platforms requiring different chipsets. Even if they both were Penryn, you still had to verify that the BIOS supports the newer CPU.
