Hi, I bought an A8Js less than a week ago and suddenly I can no longer run off battery power. The laptop runs fine off the AC adaptor. When the AC adaptor is plugged in, the orange charging light comes on but the battery doesn't charge. When I look at the Power Meter in Control Panel it says the battery is 40% charged and that it is charging but it just stays at 40% forever. Then when I remove the AC adaptor and try running off the battery the laptop won't even turn on!

I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, etc. but to no avail. Anyone else have a similar issues? Or maybe it's something silly in the BIOS that I have accidentally changed (???). I'm taking it into to the shop tomorrow, this sucks, I need this laptop for a business trip next week

    Thanks

Ever think to give Asus a call? It's odd, especially for a battery that physically wasn't even designed more than 8 months ago..... so it's shelf-life at most is less than the amount of time a li-ion would start to even lose a tiny bit of life..... It's a warranty issue and Asus would replace the battery ASAP. These things can always happen.... batteries and ram don't need a reason to stop working sometimes.

Unless by "the shop" you mean the Asus service center in Fremont, you should really just give Asus a call. They are the ones responsible for a warranty, and they will get you a new battery ASAP as Justin said.
