I have the G50vt-x1 and wondered if anyone has put a Blueray drive in it? If so how did movies look?

If I did this I would output the movies via the HDMI port so I am sure they would look great on my flat screen TV but how would they look on the laptop screen? Since this screen only does 1366 X 768 it would seem the only reason to get this drive would be to use it on a big screen. Or would BR movies look better on the laptop screen as well?

A few people have upgraded the drives in them. I am amazed no one has reponded to this yet.

Anyway its a toss up... Picture quality can only be soo visably better. It will be better but not day/night compared to anything else HD...

The exact drive model is posted around on here. You can buy it I think for a few hundred or maybe like $150. Its a sony drive.

It would be better on a big screen like you said, but also keep in mind its the only way to get HD movies on disk are the blueray so if you want to even watch them on the laptop you need a blue ray. Its not like you can put them in a normal drive and look at it with lower quality.

I myself have the A2 which came with it, but have yet to use the blueray part. I dont really own any movies nor rent them so its little use to me. If your a DVD fan than yes get it, if not why spend the money. (unless this will be like your media center PC...) Boy I wish a remote would work on this bad boy.
