In particular the driver updates on Asus website. (i.e. ATK utility or intel)

I'm needing to get to the root of my Hcontrol.exe crashing and my Intel wireless acting up and want to get some other opinions on downloading new drivers. I'm a neewbie to updating drivers and exactly the safest way of going about it.

Thanks for any and all help.

What I've done on my W3J is install the Intel driver and client, then, using msconfig, disabled its processes at startup. I then use Windows to manage my wireless connections while retaining the ability to use the buttons on the right using hcontrol. I know that doesn't really answer your question but I figure it could solve some of the issues you spoke of.
