Has anyone been able to use Speedfan or Notebook Hardware Control to adjust the fan speed in Windows? Once it turns on, the fan doesn't seem to want to turn off in my experience.

speedfan is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing....stay away. use it for monitoring temperatures ONLY.
if you're an experienced user, sorry for the obvious comment. -
Asus disables fan controls on its laptops I guess.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Speedfan only works for fan speed control if the motherboard is recognized by the software. NHC has to have a ACPI control script for the motherboard to work. Eee is too new on both counts for either to work, and it isn't based off a previous platform that you could adjust/hack to enable it.
Sorry, isn't likely to work now/ever, and it would truly be a bad idea to mess with speed on such a small chassis. -
I was told Eee PC has no fan at all.

The main thing is that it seems to turn on at some arbitrary temperature, but it doesn't turn off until the temp drops MUCH lower, and even then at 15+ minute increments. This gives the illusion that it doesn't turn off once it is already on.
Another odd thing - I believe the fan is on the wrong side of the motherboard from the processor.
Has anyone figured out how to adjust the fan speed on the Eee PC in Windows?
