Has anyone successfully upgraded ASUS K53E from 1366x768 to 1920x1080 or heard of anyone that has successfully done this?

    Thank you.

I upgraded my n53 to a fhd display, used the 4 lane LVDS cable from the fhd n53 model, and got a decent fhd display. Go to your bios, press f12 and reply with the model of your mobo that is shown in the bottom right corner.

Senso: Thanks for responding - that's encouraging news! Unfortunately My ASUS is at another location which I won't be able to access for 1-2 weeks. Until then the model is K53E-BBR9, if that helps. When I access it, I will report the MOBO number as you indicated.

    Thanks senso!
My mobo model # is 'ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K53E' - no other numbers. I think I read somewhere the mobo video connector only has socket/pins for lower res monitor- but not sure-maybe not.

Going by all the photos that I can find of the K53E, there are 4 LVDS differential pair lanes on the pcb going into the display connector, the connector and LVDS cable is the same used in the N53, so I would say that it should work, does your K53E have any dGPU, or only the iGPU?

If you dont game at all, and you use the h264ify extension in your browser, FHD video wont be a problem at all.
