If so, to which adapter? I'm looking for a compatible wireless N full mini-PCIe card.

I don't think Asus is known for blacklisting any particular OEMs' mPCIe NICs.
Here's a video on the removal process (about 20+ seconds in)
I'm not sure what card came shipped with it, but generally people have the fewest complaints against Intel cards. -
Thanks, that's a useful video. However, I'd like to know what wireless N cards have worked successfully with the laptop. I have tried replacing the original Intel 3945 with Intel 5100 and 6200 cards and I've had system freezes in Windows XP and linux, indicative of hardware incompatibility.
I'd like to know what hardware has been used without issues. Surely someone must have upgraded the wireless on one of these laptops? -

Did you happen to remove the driver for the other card prior to installing the new card(s)? I'm just spitballing at this point since I'm not as keen on this model. -
Yes, I did uninstall the old drivers before the upgrade and new driver installation in Windows. In linux, the appropriate driver module is loaded seamlessly at boot time.

Gotta love Linux.
Did it function normally in Linux or still no go?
-
No, I think it must be a hardware incompatibility issue, since I get random freezes in Windows, linux, and even when running a live USB OS. This is why I want to find what wireless N adapter has worked for others.

Ah, well best of luck to you. Hopefully somebody with personal experience lets you know, and I'll post back if I find anything out. -
After much trial and error, I have finally found a solution: the Intel 4965AGN wireless N adapter. It is working well in both Ubuntu (iwl4965 driver) and Windows XP (13.4.0.139 driver). The performance is very good, and my system is stable. If anyone else is looking to upgrade the wireless on the Asus G1, now you know what works... and what doesn't.
Has anyone upgraded an Asus G1 to wireless N ?
