I don't think Asus is known for blacklisting any particular OEMs' mPCIe NICs.
Here's a video on the removal process (about 20+ seconds in)
I'm not sure what card came shipped with it, but generally people have the fewest complaints against Intel cards. -
I'd like to know what hardware has been used without issues. Surely someone must have upgraded the wireless on one of these laptops? -

After much trial and error, I have finally found a solution: the Intel 4965AGN wireless N adapter. It is working well in both Ubuntu (iwl4965 driver) and Windows XP (13.4.0.139 driver). The performance is very good, and my system is stable. If anyone else is looking to upgrade the wireless on the Asus G1, now you know what works... and what doesn't.
Has anyone upgraded an Asus G1 to wireless N ?
