hi all!
My first post here.
Ok my problem is this, Ive recently bought a N73sv and from like 2 weeks back I have to press f1 for the computer to boot, if I dont press f1 it just shows the asus logo forever.
Ive reinstalled the system 2 times using the recovery disks I made when I first installed the computer. And I have also updated all drivers and also the bios to the latest version, Ive also checked the boot order in the bios.
Any help would be nice //thx

Not sure if you have any external hard drive connected or maybe you want to check the boot priority in BIOS. or you can try press Tab key on the keyboard to show the post message. -
it doesnt ask me to press f1 to continue it just shows the asus logo. Ive checked the boot order and doesnt have any external hdd or other usb devices connected.
If I get in to the bios and choose boot override it boots in to windows but when I restart the computer its stuck at asus logo again. -
that's because BIOS hide the message but it still detect errors and ask you to press F1 to continue.
not sure what exactly the problem is but it could be saying "CMOS checksum error press F1 to continue" something like this:

Is your system date and time correct? if not then it could be bad CMOS battery. -
great tried pressing tab now when I got home .... and it says
port 0 ST95005620AS
S.M.A.R.T Status bad, Backup and replace.
Press f1 to resume...
I cant find anywhere in bios how to turn off smart though -

It does happen, though. Where did you buy the computer from? If it was from a custom reseller (GenTechPC, XoticPC, Powernotebooks, et al), it would probably be faster to contact them and have them replace the drive. If you bought it from Newegg, Amazon, et al, you can probably return the whole machine for a replacement or refund since you're less than 30 days out.
Either way would probably be quicker and less hassle than dealing with Asus directly. -
