I just purchased my Asus N56VZ a few days ago. I have done my AI recovery dvd back-up, complete the windows update and also did the asus live-update for the drivers.

However, I have been facing some issues regarding on the speed of the laptop. It somehow disappoint me due to the slow opening up of applications. Somehow, it needs sometime to warm-up before the whole system starts to run smoothly.

There is also another issue regarding the virtual cam application which is pre-installed in the laptop. Whenever I click on the app, the program will prompt me to allow the app to make changes to my computer. After pressing yes, the prompt window goes away and nothing happens. I have used the Life Frame application and it shows that the front camera of my laptop is working fine. Therefore, I am puzzled with what is going on?

I am a first-time user for Asus and i hope it won't be the last time.

    Up for advise! Thanks!

It is not necessarily uncommon for a computer to be a little sluggish for a few minutes after booting. Without getting into a lot of technical details, this is because the operating system is doing a lot of things in the background to improve performance over the long run. You can basically choose between quick performance when the computer boots at the expense of performance later on, or the opposite of slow performance right after boot to improve performance later on. If the performance issues persist longer than say 5 minutes, 10 at the outside if you have a large number of programs all loading with the startup of Windows, then you may have some other issue that needs to be addressed.

I would do a clean Windows install and only install necessary Asus hardware drivers. It might be you've got Bloatware running in the background. Check your TaskManager processes as admin.
