    Headphones have no sound when plugged in

    Hi everyone,

    I own a F8SV, tried pluggin my sony earphones into the headphone port but i get no sound output.

    anyone else getting the same problem?

    Check your sound settings, drivers, etc...

    They're all up to date...I just got this F8SV like 2 weeks ago, shouldn't be having this kinda problem? Maybe it's a defective jack?

    Also, It detects that a headphone is plugged in...but no sound

    yes true, and some other people like me has another type of sound problem that is rather due to a hardware failure.
    My new V1s-B1 has no sound thru the built-in speakers and the headphones are working fine when plugged in. This laptop went once for repair to fix this issue, they changed the motherboard and it worked fine for a little while. But recently, the laptop is getting again the same problem...

    I really suggest (to you as well as the OP) changing drivers. If you're using stock drivers, use drivers from the sound card manufacturer's website. And the other way around.

    Also you can try booting a Live Linux distro.

    Only if neither of these fixes the problem, should you conclude that you have faulty hardware.
