Ok I just packed some ice on my W3J real quick. I had linux running which I have had running with no problem for a while. I noticed some glitching happening and then after a while the hand rest became uncomfortably HOT! The only new thing I did recently was install the new BIOS floating around that fixes the graphics issue.

I am not sure if this is just coincindence, linux or the new BIOS causing the issue. But this has not happened before. By the way I am running compiz on my ubuntu if that makes any difference.

Sounds like a bad video card to me. The glitches you saw were probably artifacts.

By glitches I mean the computer would freeze for 2-3 seconds here and there
    :(

If he could find out whats directly under that palmrest, he would know what the problem is. Since I dont have a W3J as of yet, I cant tell him.

I don't have my manual with me but the bulk of the heat was not coming from right underneath the palm rest but where the vent is. Whatever is in the quadrant was really heated

Maybe the BIOS change changed something in the power management and the CPU frequency governer got stuck at max frequency?

Do we know when the Official BIOS will be released from ASUS? I may go back until then, otherwise voided warranty :(
