We are doing a US only program to assist our endusers who seek additional assistance and information not readily available here yet.
As much as we would love to support the entire global user base, we unfortunately cannot, due to reasons such as market segments and model availabilities. ( i.e. Where is a service center in ( somewhere outside of United States or Canada), Does the xxx model sold in ( somewhere outside of United States or Canada) have feature A and B"? ). We will however attempt to assist with almost anything Asus Notebook related as long as it is within reason ( does not violate manufacturer's warranty and other legalities ).
We would like to thank everyone who made this forum possible and thank you for choosing Asus Notebooks.
Please note: We are limited to 150 PMs and we are not allowed to access forums outside of ASUS facilities, therefore we will not be able to reply during the weekend.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

So when are you going to fix the overheating problems in the G51 and G71?
-
I think Soviet already covered one question that has been on half of everyone's minds. I'm also a bit curious about the future of the G-series. Like will a new model be created that will be different from the current G50 and G70 models? Possibly something with a more efficient cooling system?
Maybe you can't answer that question, but I'm just curious. >.> -

First of all, I want to make sure this guy is legit. Then I'm going to make sure he answers all of my questions. Once he reaches five posts and is able to send and receive PM's, I can assure you his inbox is going to fill up very quickly.
-
Why does customer service suck?
Am I allowed to ask that? -
The guy seems legit, used an ASUS email to register and IP seems to be from ASUS's N.A. HQ in Fremont.

I haven't had the problems detailed in this thread (I'm still looking to buy a laptop after all!), but I would appreciate it if you could shed some light on what's happening.
Also, welcome to the forums! -
Will the Best Buy G51VX-RX05 ever support quad core cpus?
-
Why not a 11'6 netbook with MATTE screen?
The eee pc 1005 has 2 models, at least in my country, one with glossy, the other one with matte screen.
Please bring back matte screens!!! -
Also guys, be patient, I'm sure he/she can't answer everything all at once, and with great detail.
Don't scare him/her away already -
My G51 wish list:
1. Update the bios so the fan runs at a lower temp rather than waiting till 70+C to turn on.
2. Give us the option of buying a thicker heatpipe + better cfm fan to update our cooling.
3. Get rid of the explosion sound during post completely.
4. Disable the mandatory grind noise the dvd makes during post. Disabling it in boot priority does not alleviate this problem.
5. Fix the touchpad/keyboard issue. You know, the one where if you install synaptics drivers, the keyboard has numerous missed keystrokes and lags.
Thank you.
P.S. ignore the guy asking about matte screens. Glossy is great, just update them now with LG panels because AUO sucks. Edge to edge would also be nice. Also, does the G51VX-X2A and X1A support Quad Core? -
Welcome to the forums, I'm glad to see Asus taking an interest. I won't pester you about problems (yet) but I do hope that this is an indication that Asus is taking customer care seriously. I have just been through an RMA on my new G51, and I must say that while everyone at the company was nice, the lack of internal tracking and a usable web status made the whole thing more unpleasant than it needed to be.
Oh, and I would like a software option to turn off the lights on the back of the G51. And a pony.
Thanks. -

Just letting you know I love your Asus notebook. My third one. Only thing which drives me crazy is the poor screen you use for your HD glossy. I have one of those AUO screen and I can't show my laptop to anybody because the first comment I get besides "Why does your laptop glow blue?" is "Your screen looks funny." Unless you look dead center either the top or bottom will look bad. And I would say it's still only about 95% correct. Watching Blu-Ray is hard if I was going to let my two kids watch with me.
-
My one and only real question has been asked. do the X1A and X2A models support quadcore CPUs?
-
Asus Customer Care: This is an awesome move. Quite a few of us are already going for Asus because of the great support some of your resellers have (GenTech for one), and having first-party support is like icing on that cake.
People: Realize that Asus is a business, and you can't get everything you like. Try searching theFAQs first before flooding the guy with questions (which will cause him to understandably grind to a halt - tragedy of the commons in action), and most importantly understand that fixes cost money. For example, I'd love to hear what they're doing about the G51 heat, but issues like sound disappearing when startup volume is muted from the bios are minor issues - there's a fixed amount of resources and too many bugs to fix, and I honestly wouldn't blame Asus if they don't fix this any time soon - workarounds are easy.
Keep being awesome.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
My points :
a) Overheating Issues .. today playing crysis i reach 85º with the GPU
b) Compatibility with Win 7 Drivers .. it was horrible to set EVERY DRIVER in compatibility mode and to execute them as admin.
c) The option to control GPU and CPU Overclock from the BIOS + Option to set up the fans.
d) Maybe a line of Asus Refrigeration Notebook Coolers or other accesories will be excelent
e) A better customer care service for latin american users. -
lmao! be VERY happy with 85C on crysis, very very very happy..
secondly, Win7 is not released yet, so of course, driver support will be limited..
GPU/CPU overclocking generally voids warranty. thus them only allowing the specified overclock via power4gear. -

I'm surprised nobody mentioned switching from Asus prorietary "reverse" MXM slots to standard MXM slots.
-
Err unless I missed it, he's not a Santa. I think he's here just to answer minor questions. Not why does Asus Customer service suck. C'mon. I dare you to walk into ANY store and tell the manager infront of customers, why does this store suck? He's not going to answer a loaded question like that.
And while 85c is HOT, what's the thermal limit of the 260 anyways? 90c, 93c if so,then 85c may still be counted as ok. -
110C is what I've been told by asus reps (3 different reps)
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
GTX 260M GPU BIOS lists 108*C as the worst scenario safe maximum for the GPU core with leeway of 6*C until it is officially dead at 114*C. Anywhere between 108*C and 114*C will still do damage.
-
Oh I got another good question. How do I disable the G51 blue lights on the back of the LCD screen? And cutting wires don't count.
I use this for work, and I really don't need the blue lights to be on.
-
Simple answer, you can't disable them.
-
Also something to take note is that, he/she is in North America, where ASUS is only an office/repair factory/facility. Almost all the notebooks/netbooks/products are designed, engineered and manufacturered in Taiwan(or China), so there is only so much he/she can do.
Of course, we do appreciate the presence, as many things such as notes on certain models, etc. that are mentioned so far can be forwarded to head office and sent to ASUS Taiwan. -
Yes, it can be very difficult to migrate it to the G51, people have tried, many times, and failed so far. The program you're referring to, Direct Console 2.0, won't even install on my G51 for one, and secondly, it has a somewhat different DSDT and the same method cannot be used.
-
I have a question. Will there be a successor to the Asus W90?
-
-
Hello sir/madam!
Welcome to the forums! I hope you'll be able to manage your time to answer all of the question...
You know what's really sad though? None of you guys even took the time to greet him/her... Well, KimoT did... I understand G51/71 users have questions, problems, and concerns about their unit, but it's always nice to welcome new users, especially an Asus representative.
Best Regards, Leonid -

As xleonid mentioned we should not be too critical of this move.
I find it also a great move that ASUS tries to put some representative in this forum to look into the problems custumers are having.
How often do you see this with other manifacturers?
This could become another source of valuable information.
In Europe we have something similar where ASUS notebook employees are running a forum through which they provide lot of support and up to date drivers.
I am reffering to www.asustreiber.de.
Actually, at the moment that is the greatest source of Win7 drivers for ASUS notebooks. -

uhm
i dont think asus would be in here and if they do send a rep here i doubt you will get any decent answers -
I am hoping they will follow up on this. From my first experience with Asus RMA, the biggest problems with service appear to be communications: both with the owners and within the company. Taking the initiative to reach out to a large pool of vocal users is a good way to start improving how they do customer service. From what Coriolis said, this does appear to be legit. I am a bit concerned that there is only one post so far...they need to at least post enough to get PMs working if they intend to use this forum as a tool to help customers. Hope we didn't scare them off already.
And I still want a pony. Turning the G51 lights off is optional. -
That is pretty cool that Asus would send someone here to answer our questions. Unfortunately if they really are from Asus they probably saw forges mods and all of soviets posts and had a heart attack thinking of all the warranty violations.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
To hell with the warranty. I am the warranty. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=416414
-
The warranty issue will probably prevent them from answering some questions (like quad support in non-A1 models, which would violate the warranty).
@ Soviet: With the weight of all that copper, you may as well have just gone straight to water cooling. -
It wouldn't violate the warranty if you had it upgraded at an asus certified reseller would it? and all of that copper weighs less than the zalman NC2000 cooler which most people use with the G51 anyways.
-
Hadn't thought of that. Any end-user replacement would be a warranty killer, but a reseller or repair center should be able to.
-
I'd probably ship it to gentech as they're only just south of me in california.
-
And besides 85º is a temp that affect the whole notebook , heat is heat and circulates all inside the nb.
b) Win 7 is RTM ... and they offer a "free upgrade" check the sticker in your notebook , they're offering an upgrade to a product that has no full comp with their drivers ?
c) Asus Motheboards have the option to overclock you GPU and CPU ... why not include it in their notebooks ? -

Wow. It is very overwhelming indeed to see our first post hit five pages in one day. We will be needing multiple monitors to keep up to date on all the threads. We will try to answer each of the concerns and questions already posted within this thread as quickly as possible so that we can move on to helping all others who still needs help.
Please bear with us, we will take some time to sift through all the postings within the sub forum.
We will post a reply to all of the 40 posts already logged in. We will try to avoid canned corporate answers as much as possible, but we will also be honest as to what we can and cannot do. -
Thank you for your effort. As a new first time laptop owner and Asus customer it is greatly appreciated to have your presence here.
-
Thank you for your effort indeed. As a first Asus laptop owner, I am very well pleased with the product, I just wish I had gddr3 memory; dd2 hinders the card too much.
Cheers, -
Wow, thanks for showing back up and being available. Currently very happy with my Asus products, but good to know you guys are here to help when needed! Thanks!

My Question Is:
"Why did Asus decide to give the W90 virtually no support with graphics drivers?" -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
That's ATi's problem.
-
My biggest question is when is the issue going to be resolved with the g71 underclocking at 82 degrees when it has been woke up from sleep?
