hei guys, i burned my g1s last month and it is still under warantty.. i bring to asus service centre to repair..

they told me they order the g1s motherboard for me since there is no g1s motherboard available and ask me to wait for 2 weeks... so i went home happily...

but i receieve the call today from them and they told me the motherboard is still yet to come and they suggest me to upgrade my g1s to g1sn... that's including my gc as well... they told me to change my 8600 gt ddr3 to 9300 gs is a good choice bcoz it is better performance... i doubt tht and i came back to check... and of course i notice they r lying in terms of performance...

so guys do u think it is wise to "upgrade" or just wait?? Need opinion urgently.. ty for the input...

    Upgrade. Yes. Definitely. Absolutely. :)

The G1Sn is a marked improvement over the G1S. If only because there are not stuttering problems and overheating of the GPU.

but g1sn is coming wif a weaker cpu right? will it affect my gaming?all the while i tot 9500 and 9300 is a weaker gc compare to 8600 ddr3 version?? correct me if i am wrong.. i am not a laptop gc expert... i somehow heard he say giving me a 9300 gc....

anyway really thank you for ur help... coz i don wan them to install something tht is below my current g1s spec...

If they are giving a Nvidia 9300 to you. They are ripping you off. Your old 8600 would be faster than it. Accept only the 9600 version or ask them to put your old board (8600) back. 9500M GS is still considerable (might be a bit slower but i doubt u ll notice anything).

I doubt E.B.E read your post thoroughly.

From what I checked in nVidia's site, the 9300 is an on-board graphics card, while the 8600 is a dedicated card. I agree with lunateck, they are ripping you off.

I thought the G1Sn had the 9500 which is just the 8600 with double the VRAM?

really appreciate all the input... thank you

yea, i really hope i get it wrong... i don mind a 9500 if the performance difference is not huge... i am on the street while i picked up this horrible call in the afternoon...

i checked asus website and i notice there is no 9300 for g1sn...

The G1Sn has similar card to G1S (9500), they cannot change that (and even if they could they have no reason to); they will simply replace the G1Sn motherboard+GPU combo. The 9300 is probably just a typo. That's why I gave my original advice.

Indeed it is, and EBE is correct in his original advice; people need to think about this before getting excited and making alternate recommendations -- Asus doesn't and never did build an Igpu version of the G1 motherboard.

Don't take the swap if they are definitely swapping you down (as in DOWNgrade) to the 9300m. Hold out for at least 9500m+ if they must do a GPU change.

I was just replying to the OP. No offense intended, but figured that since he talked to the tech himself, that maybe his information was most correct (despite popular opinion).

Could you be more specific about those problems with the CPU? Maybe link to where you found them discussed.

The G1Sn was not what I'd call a horribly popular model. I think it had a short life, too. Maybe that's related to the tech's confusion.

PS: If you use Firefox 3, it has an integrated spellchecker. I think it would be a good idea to use it ;) If you don't use Firefox 3 yet, I strongly recommend it (not for the spellchecker, for security :p).
