I can't believe it! I'm really pleased with my new Asus, but after only 2 days the lid release button on the front has popped out. I can't see anything damaged, and it has seemed a little loose since I got it, and now it keeps popping out.

I don't really want to get the notebook replaced for such a stupid little problem, as I've spent hours putting all my data on it, and setting it up how I like it.

Has anyone seen this fault before, and know of a solution? :(

Hey, if it's faulty just send it back. Get on the phone to ASUS, from what i experienced with them when i was having Blue Screen issues, i was on the phone with them for about 10 minutes before they sent me an RMA form. The problem was supposed to be a Hard Drive, or Hard Drive controller issue, and they said they would have it back in 2 weeks. I didn't send it back in the end because after installing Vista, the problem went away strangely enough. But either way replacing a Hard Drive controller is a big job, since its a new motherboard and they said it would be back in a week. So for something small like that it should be back within a week.

Just get on the phone to them, and see what they say. At least this has happened at the beginning of owning it, not a few months down the line, so you have your old machine still to use for that week.

Thanks for the advice. I really didn't want to send it back, as my previous laptop has been taken over by my father, so I have nothing else to use. Also, it took me 6 hours to put all my data back on it, and I'd rather not go through that again!

I took the plunge and warmed the button under a hair dryer, and opened up the tabs slightly. Seems to have done the trick now!
