I recently bought an Asus Pro31j (F3 series) off a friend of mine, who had been travelling and hadn’t used the laptop since mid last year. Problem here is my friend states the computer was working fine then but now I have found many problems have surfaced:
I can’t install the latest Microsoft Office, ITunes or the Vista SP1. I also can’t connect to the internet, though it acknowledges network and wireless connections, it also doesn’t let me defrag or run the system file checker tool. Another strange occurrence I’ve noticed, is that in the task manager there are multiple (14) svchost.exe’s. I have checked for errors, tried individual FAQs from Microsoft, had IT mates have a look and many other avenues all to no avail.
The notebook is running Windows Vista Home Premium, if anyone has any insight into what is wrong here, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Shannon

is there anyway to reinstall the os without a vista cd, as it came preinstalled on the notebook from the dealer?
