Hello,
This is my first post and a cry for help.
I have the UX32a which was experiencing a keyboard issue. So I purchased a new keyboard, installed it and now the laptop won't boot.
I have searched online about the black screen issue, and all articles refer to cmos reset or power cycle with/without battery installed. Therefore, I will list what I have done below:
Pressed F2, F8, F10, Esc and a combination of these during boot up;
Removed power/battery/cmos;
Hard reset (20 seconds & 40-60seconds);
Alternate power cycling with/without battery, AC power and cmos battery connected;
Removed RAM and HDD, powered on with/without connected;
Connected via HDMI to external monitor;
Tried a new cmos battery;
Tried a USB recovery stick;
Re-seated all connectors after a further disassembly.
What is strange, is that I have managed to get to the windows login screen once and also the BIOS once, but the laptop was frozen.
When I power on the laptop, the caps lock and power button are on and the F2 button flashes on/off about every 5 seconds.
I can hear the HDD spin up and the fans spin up for about 3 seconds and stop. Then they spin up again for a little longer, and if I leave the laptop powered on, the fans will spin continuously after about 1-2mins suggesting the laptop is on, but the screen is still black.
It can't be a screen issue, as I have seen an output when reaching the BIOS/login screen.
The iSSD could be a factor, but a faulty one would only cause a LONG boot up time or hang. I can't even get the Asus logo.
I was suspecting a motherboard fault, but the fact that the fans spin continuously and I have managed to get to the windows login screen and BIOS once, suggests that it may not be motherboard related? However, I could be wrong!
Any advice/tips would be very much welcomed.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this.![]()
