Hi all, I got my A8JS laptop, but I'm having trouble with it!

I'm using Vista Home Premium, but I can't click on a field. Also, I can't click on yes or no in a confirmation dialog box.... Can anyone help? :(

Do you mean you can't tap the touchpad, or rather that tapping doesn't click?

    If so,

It might be a touchpad settings issue. Assuming a Synaptics touchpad, and an XP-similar path through the menus, try entering:
Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings > Settings and there:
    - decrease palm check to minimum
    - move touch sensitivity to "light touch"

If the touchpad becomes too jumpy afterwards, try re-increasing somewhat the touch sensitivity, and only if that doesnt solve the problem, the palm check.

If this is not the problem, then please be more specific.

I actually meant a USB external mouse... In any case, I've solved the problem. Turns out that I did not plug in the mouse properly... but it's strange because i could move and right click

Ok, I correct that last statement. The problem has returned... I'll go into the specifics of the problem:

    1) This problem involves my left mouse button. Right Click and moving of pointer is fine.

    2) I can left click on icons and open folders, but I cannot left click into input fields on webpages

    3) This problem seems to occur whenever I sorta plug in too many USB devices. It also sorta occurs (I think) when said USB devices malfunction.

    4) This problem I think is solved when I unplug said offending devices, but it does not work all the time

    5) It is extremely annoying

    6) Oh ya, when the problem occurs, I can't click on the "Notebook Forums" tab in notebookreview.com, nor any other tabs

I really love the A8JS, but this problem is really doing my head in. I hope someone here can help me... :(

Ok I have sorta narrowed the problem down further
It seems like BT is causing the problems...
    Any idea why?

Try reinstalling the BT stack, or download the latest one and see if that helps.

Ok I twiddled abit with Wireless Console V2.0.8... It seems the problem is not isolated to BT alone.

    The same problem occurred when....

    1) I left clicked on Wireless Console V2.0.8 icon to bring up the UI, then chose "Wireless Lan" only

    2) Rebooted, and was happy to see that BT did not turn on at start up

    3) Only Wireless Lan was on, but the problem resurfaced.

    4) The problem went away after I switched off and turned on Wireless Lan via the buttons. The same thing occurs when I did that for BT

    :(

I'm having the exact same problem and have not been able to work round it but it only pops up on certain application windows while working fine on others. Thanks for the advise about turning on and off WLAN via button, it does seems to clear something so the left click works again

Nah, when this problem pops up, it will affect both plugged in mouse (in my case a Logitech VX) and the onboard touchpad. It turns out to be some problem with one of Vista Aero's options. Turn off Transparency and the problem goes away.

strange... first time I have heard of this.

still look into the hardware tho for one reason:

Just last week I found out that when my computer up front at work would stop right clicking it was a hardware issue where the mouse was keeping the right click stuck. The mouse button itself was not stuck it went up and down just fine.

I figured it was a virus/error or some sort of protection they put on the computer so you cant right click. Well last week when it happened again I kind of got mad and was like "WHY WONT YOU RIGHT CLICK!!! GRRR" and hit the right mouse button hard, and suddenly it worked. The sensor inside the mouse was sticking...

Chances are if one device has a button locked down in the "on" positoin another device cant use it (aka your notebooks button)

So while not a common occurance, im tossing that out there incase it is the reason, and it will probably help sombody else that reads it because its the really odd problems like this one that always give the most trouble to solve when its not a normal solution.
