    Hi, everyone

I just bought a Asus F6A with Intel GMA 4500, but it shared about 1G of my total 4G ram, so if someone know how can i set it lower or not.

    thanks a lot to everyone

No, you can't. The video ram is controlled by the vBIOS, and is not user accessible.

The good news is that vRAM is dynamic, so if the system requires access to some of the reserved memory it will give it up. With 4GB RAM in your machine, you'll never see a performance hit anyway regardless of the 4500's reserved block because 4GB is pretty much more than enough for every application currently available.

    Hi, Clearskie

thanks for your information, so i can modify the Ram, right? hum, i think 3G ram is enough for me, but just don't want to waste the 1G for the video card.

    but thanks anyway.

To clarify, in case it isn't a typo ..... no you cannot do anything about the vRAM allocation of the 4500.

kwokx2, this is like a credit line.
Computer has 3-4 gigs of memory and Video card has 'credit line' up to 1gig limit. Do not forget that other devices and programs have their 'credit lines' too - sound card for instance - and computer is managing the memory amidst all the clients - you have very limited ability to take a part in this distribution.

Video card sometimes takes 128Mb sometimes 512Mb some times 64Mb but no more than 1gig. Please note that memory consumption by different consumers is a dynamic process and neither you nor me are qualified or capable to do this job.
