    Hi,

I recovered my laptop by choosing "recovering whole HDD" even if i should have chosen "recovering first partition", so i lost my second partition, and all files in it.

how can i get my files back :(
i tried file recovery programs, but they didnt work.

    any suggestion?
    thanks for any reply.

Unless you want to pay out the butt for a professional recovery service, consider them gone, and this a lesson well learned.

this is a tough situation since you've not only formated the partition, but overwriten it with a windows installation. even if you were to pay for a professional recovery service, you won't be able to recover all of your files.
Most software won't be able to help you in this situation.

    I am not so sure.

IF the partitions have the same sizes as before and IF you have not yet written to the second partition, the bytes themselves are still there. The File allocation table (well, NTFS index, whatever) however, is NOT.

Therefore, if really, really needed, you can use professional services to recover your data.

Otherwise, as Lithus mentions, a lesson well learned. THINK about what critical options during an install do before you select them...

    Edit: some typos..

For the OP, check out recuva - http://www.recuva.com/

Your chances of recovering are slim, but you can always cross your fingers and hope. Oh, recuvas free too.
