Help identify N53 model. (N53SN, I think...)

I've been a member here for a while, but really haven't kept up with things notebook-related recently. I need to replace my W3j, and was looking at an Asus at MicroCenter last night, but I can't find it on thier website. I think it's an N53SN similar to this one:

Micro Center - ASUS N53Sn-XR2 Laptop Computer - Silver N53SN XR2

However, IIRC, the model I was looking at had a 560-series graphics card w/ 2GB and 8GB RAM. It had 'real' keys and not chicklets, so that's why I think it was an N53 and not a G-series. It was selling for $949, if it helps.

Can anyone help me identify the exact model so I can do a little more research?

I'm looking for something that will do the basics (internet, MS Office, some light photo editing). I'm sure an N53 will be fine for that, but may also want to play some games. How would this model (w/ 560-series graphics and 2GB on-board mem) handle some of the newer games like BF3?

The N53 has never had a 560-class graphics card. You might be thinking of the N55SF as it has a GeForce GT 555M.

Only the G-Series line has GeForce GTX GPUs, which is what the 560M is.

 

Okay, maybe it was a 550? I don't recall if the video card was a GT or GTX. I started looking at laptops in the store last night before getting up-to-speed on the latest hardware, so I didn't realize there was a difference between GT/GTX.

I do know that one machine I was looking at (G53?) had a 540-series card w/ 1GB RAM and a Windows Performance score of 5.8, and the other a higher number (thought it was 560, but could've been 550 - definitely ended w/ a '0', though) and 2GB of RAM w/ a Windows Performance score of 5.9. Pretty close in general. Both had 7200rpm hard drives and i7 processors.

Would you think one might be that much better of a gaming machine over the other?
