So this is my first laptop, just got it today. I have a 64bit version of Vista that I use on my desktop that I am trying to install on my laptop.

When I boot off the installer, everything goes fine. I leave the Restore Partition, but delete the other two partitions, making one 280gb partition.

When I install Vista on the partition, everything installs without error, but about 10 seconds into the laptop booting up, it restarts and tries to boot off the Recovery Partition... and I get a box with a big red "ERROR" message.

I'm new to laptops, so I'm nervous about it as is, and the instruction book says not to delete the Restore Partition, but the partition is marked as "Primary" and I don't know how to change it, or if that is even the problem.

If any one has experience with this issue, or knows where I am going wrong, any help would be great. Thanks!

Figured out it was the Restore Partition. I deleted it, installed Vista 64 again, and am now installing the drivers.

I read somewhere about updating video card drivers, that u have to do it manually... can anyone point me towards a tutorial for that or briefly explain it?

I believe you won't be able to use the license code from your M50 to activate the 64b install (the notebook's licenses are linked directly to the OS install as all OEM installs are), and using the desktop's license violates MS' EULA.
