I'm going to order a laptop cooler some time in the coming days. I just need to decide which of them I should buy.

    I have a ASUS A6JC laptop (CD 1.66 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB 5.4k rpm, 7300 Go).

    The options I have are:

    Zalman ZM-NC1000
    Akasa Aluminium Notebook Cooler
    Cooler Master NotePal

I could buy any of these (I will buy the best one), however NotePal is only available from one store which I don't have much experience with, the other two are available in stores I really trust (bought the laptop from one of them, a Logitech G25 from the other, both have superb service).

    So...

Which of them will cool the laptop the best?

    Thanks and advance.

I myself love the Lian Li Notebook coolers out there. Not only do they perform well but they are sexy and dont look like crap on your desk.

You need to consider too how much noise the fans in the laptop cooler will generate.

I think an important question to ask is - how do you use your laptop? Are you going to be using it mostly at your desk, or on your lap...etc.?

    I have this:

    http://www.raindesigninc.com/ilap.html

It's not a cooler but rather a stand. It works well and has kept my W3j cool under gaming conditions. It's also nice because you don't have to worry about failure of the unit (like you would a fancier one).

i too have a notepal but wouldn't recommend it. the fans don't push much air. plus, if you're not careful, the sharp edges could easily scratch your notebook.

Yeah, let's get back to that question --- the A6jc should be a fairly low temp system under routine use, what are you doing that is making the unit run hot enough that you think you need a cooler? Most of the CDuo/C2D systems don't need much external cooling unless they're being stressed with long gaming sessions (but the 7300 isn't much of a hot power chip), and even then simply putting them on a hard/flat surface should suffice.

    Okay, updating this thread:

My reason for buying a laptop cooler is mostly because of the harddrive temperature, after maybe 5-6 hours of usage it [the temperature] could go up to 56C (a little to hot for my taste), and it gets warm to have on your lap.
The highest I've seen this laptop go in temperature (with undervolting) is 65C on CPU (cores at 61-62C), with all other temperatures between 50-60C.
At no time has the computer had slow downs, or rebooted at any time.

I just wanted my harddrive to run a little cooler and make it more comfortable to have in my lap.

I got the Zalman last friday, and it has helped the temperature down quite a bit. The harddrive now is about 35-38C depending on fanspeed and CPU is at 47-50C also depending on fanspeed. Earlier these temperatures was at 58-60C for CPU and up to 55-56C for harddrive. Under low load (<50% the CPU gets to 57-58C (62C before), with harddrive going up to 40C, and high load of 62C (64-65C before), and harddrive remaining at 40C. Other temperatures are between 35-45C on idle and 45-55C during load.

The A6 series runs a little hot from what I've seen, and my temperatures are normal for this laptop (little lower due to undervolting). I also use the computer in a room that has a 24-25C ambient temp.

The Zahlman works quite well for me, well worth the money.
