    Hi,
    i recently got Asus K53SV (i5 , 4gb-r, 500gb-hd)
    it 've win7 ultimate
1- how can i change screen contrast and get soft view?
2- sound of speakers is very low, is there any way to increase it?
3- usb gets disconnected automatically after a few minutes and i get a notifications message in tray bar which says it could not be recognized. any solution for this? or have anyone experienced it?
4- i am using external usb mouse which i got with the laptop, its also from Asus. but the problem is that it double clicks when i click only for one time. whats wrong with this? is it very fast or some problem?
5- i use my laptop as desktop replacement around 14hrs a day, but sometimes i move the laptop and use battery once in a week. is it ok to keep the power cable on & plugged in all the time?
if u can help with any # then plz post. hope to get anwsers asap.
    Thanks in advance,

    Ahssan,
    1. Try All programs.. Asus utiltiy - Asus Splendid OR Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options adjust screen brightness
    2. Check all speaker volume settings- Systray -
and CP (control panel) - sound- playback- speakers- properties - ....
    4. CP - mouse - buttons - double click speed and device setting tab - settings - look for sensitivity or similar option
could also be a setting to treat single click as double
    5. If you are using it on battery (good idea to do this once in a while) I would not leave the power cable power on.

OK, if I'd asked similar questions and had gotten these answers, I'd either question the motives of one of the responders, or I'd be pissed off altogether.

1-see JOSEA's answer. but wait, you know about the fn key, right? just checking.
2-the volume control is either through windows (next to the clock) or with the fn keys. but you can also right-click the speaker icon next to the clock, go to playback devices, select the one that is checked, and go to its properties. there, you go to levels (same as volume control) or enhancements for further control
3,4- the double click problem may be due to the mechanical switch under the button malfunctioning. reverse right and left buttons in windows (control panel-mouse-switch buttons) and see if the problem persists. if it does, it is unlikely that both switches exhibit the same behavior. coupled with the usb connection lost, I'd say you have an issue with the hardware.
5-asus, as far as I know, has no utilities to select battery charge thresholds. as such, your battery will always be charged to 100%. this will give your batttery a lower life than if it were kept at 40%. however, the advantage of keeping the battery in the unit is that it acts as a power backup in case of outages (power interruptions). now, that said, it is most likely worse for the battery to keep cycling it, since all batteries have a limit (some 300, some higher). if you have a battery with, say 300 charge limit, in less than a year your battery will have lost its capacity significantly. you decide, but if it were me, I'd keep it plugged in, with battery in the unit, and just use it as you described you already do.

keep an eye on the usb behavior. it is well enough reason to return the laptop.

Bit of misinformation here. Modern systems with LI-IO cycle the battery automatically when it reaches full charge. The system won't resume charging until it falls roughly 10%. This keeps the cells in an advantageous state as a constantly 100% LI-IO would cause a slightly lower operating life. You don't need special software for this, often it's hardware side. It's safe (usually, some brands might be different) to leave a new Asus laptop plugged in.

Lol, a very "hive-mind" like statement.
