I've decided to do a clean install since games are crashing and explorer is acting funny...

Now, what drivers would I need? I'm not going to use the recovery CDs, rather I will use my own copy of Windows XP Pro.

Also, once I get the drivers, how do I insall them? Back them up onto a CD and then what?

    I would think I need:
    BIOS drivers
    Hard drive drivers
    video card drivers
    wireless LAN card drivers

    what else?

    thanks

Just download the latest drivers from the Asus website.

    you'll need:
    ATK0100 ACPI drivers
touchpad driver <-- get these from synaptics.com
    video card driver
    wireless LAN driver/utility
    bluetooth driver/utility
    sound driver
    Power4Gear (optional)

Honestly...... you're wasting your time if you use another copy of XP Pro........ Asus' hidden partition and recovery disks are simply xp pro w/ their drivers.... and all automated of course.... you'd be wasting your time to do a totally fresh install and waste your day installing the drivers.... simply push F9 on startup and do the automated recovery to 2 partitions..... trust me, before we got into Asus - it would be the last thing I ever suggested, but knowing how their recovery disks are set up - it's simply a timesaver and Asus knows what they're doing.... they don't put anything that isn't needed into the system and just have the systems set up like that for ease of formatting....

Is there a point in doing a clean install at all then?
This system is only two months old but its been acting this way ever since I got it...that is games crashing and explorer freezing from time to time

yeah...... usually it's to format and get all the junk off the system and not put factory crap back on...... but with Asus..... it's not a problem.. you'll format - you'll reinstall and put the drivers on in one swoop.

I just ordered V6VA from ProPortable and planning to move my 60G 7200rpm drive into it, what is the best way of doing this?
Sort of installing OS from scracth, I don't see any other way.

You can put the recovery disk in - and it's actually the same process... very easy.

Will swapping the HD void Asus warranty?
If yes, is it posible to change the HD then swap it back when I actually need the warranty service?

    Thanks,

Technically - yes...... but Asus really just wants to see the original hardware in the system when they do a repair..... so you can just swap it back - it's not going to hurt the system.
