Do you guys recommend I go for the 2.4 ghz processor, go for Vista Ultimate, go for a 250 GB HD, or get some extra protection like dead pixel protection?
I want to keep the laptop for 3+ years, so I am gonna get 3 GB of ram for sure, but the rest of the specs I am not sure. I think a big hard drive is also important, as I game a lot and file sizes for games are getting ridiculous. Currently with my 100 gb HD I have to keep uninstalling huge games in order to free space, so maybe 250 GB HD would be good to last a few years. Or I could go for a 7200 RPM hard drive, would that be worth the extra $?
Is Vista Ultimate any use, or should I just go for Home Premium?
My budget is around 1800, I may be able to stretch it to 2000 but I don't want to waste money on useless features.
What do you guys think?

I would say go for the 2.4ghz it's only $30 more than the 2.13ghz.
As for the HD I would say go w/ the 250GB. It runs cooler than the 7200 ones and it's a good value per gigabyte. Theres really no noticeable difference between the 5400 and 7200. I have the 250GB HD and it works great.
I haven't seen anyone on the forums that had dead pixels so I would say it's a waste of money. I would rather recommend extending the warranty to 2 or 3 years over the dead pixel guarantee. -
The set-up you see in my sig cost a little more than $1800. I'm not sure I would go for dead pixel protection, though it is nice just in case you get that ONE computer screen that somehow passed up quality control. It depends on where your priorities are at. I had a much much higher budget set for myself than you do though. I had mine set at $3k.
I purchased my computer in the US and had it shipped over-seas. So I didn't opt for an extended warranty or much anything else along those protection plans. I was slightly disapointed that I could not get an accidental warranty plan, but you wont have to worry about that since Asus is now giving it out free right now...
Moving on, I felt HD space and RAM were hugely important to me. From there, I was able to determine through what others said about different CPU's of what would be best for me. I was going to go for the Core 2 Duo Extreme, but decided against it. And I felt that the minimal gains you get with the E6700 compared to the E6600 were not worth the extra $100. There are other things I can spend $100 on, like games. The GPU.... Well that was pretty limited, 2 choices, the 8500 or the 8600.... Imagine that. I went with GenTech though, so I didn't even get the choice, wasn't an option for me.
Like I said, it's all where your priorities are at. I plan on keeping this thing for a long long time. Untill it dies. I'll end up with a desktop of my own though when I move back to the states in the next couple of years, but that's besides the point. -
Asus has a Zero Bright Dot for 30 days on their laptops, I guess that applies to barebone too?

I have a e6600 and I say its just as good as the e6700 was, the 250gb hdd is a must since space can be used up so fast with movie/music/games. Then there is the performance/heat aspect of it too. The 250gb models are so data dense that they run very cool and nearly match the performance of a 7200rpm hdd.

I have a question. What kind of AC adapter does it use? I have a V6Va and I have two spare AC adapters, does the C90 have the same kind?
Help me with my C90 configuration
