Hi. I've never really considered getting an Asus before but I hear they are very reliable so i'm now considering getting a 12-14" notebook from them (15" would be kinda pushing it). Can you guys recommend any good ones? Preferably with an NVIDIA GPU. And a 25W C2D. It's going to be for uni so decent battery life wouldn't hurt.

I don't understand this either, but a lot of people like the design/look of them too. Why is this? Idk, they just don't look that great to me. I mean I don't really need a fingerprint reader but it seems they all have one now too.

I was interested in getting one of these (W3J) but it's an older model, discontinued. Do you know if they have a successor for it?

I really like a minimalist design (considered getting a Mac a few times already, sticking with PC though). I suppose i'm just use to Dell's barrel-hinge design and I never really go for the ultra-slim notebooks (which rules out the most of the U-series I think).

I'm also very interested in the newer 40nm NVIDIA GPUs, so does Asus have a roadmap or anything saying when they will implement these? Asus and Acer are said to be the first to do so. All i'm really looking at is a G210m. And what are their plans for Calpella/Clarksfield? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Ok, this might have been better off in the 'What Notebook Should I Buy' sub-forum, but I know it's an Asus I want... and this is the Asus area so... yeah. Any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you're looking to buy a notebook, check out the What Notebook Should I Buy section of the forums. Fill out the FAQ there and we'll see what we can do. :)

Its more of a personal preference really for design. The thing is with most ASUS notebooks is that they're somewhat minimalistic in design, save for some like the gaming series.

I think a good 14" from ASUS would be a U80V. Decent enough graphics muscle packaged with a rather stylish design plus backlit keyboard.

With regards to the 40nm Nvidia GPUs, they're just waiting for the new batch of yields from TSMC since only recently have they come up with a decent number of yields. They should be around by September.

I am trying to think of which Asus notebooks in that size that come with an NVidia GPU and I cannot think of any. Lots of ATi ones though. Here is my short list:

    Asus N81Vg - 14", NV GT 120M
    Asus N81Vp - 14", ATi HD 4650
    Asus U80V - 14", ATi HD 4570
