    Hello all,

having bought my A8Js over 3 years ago after reading the reviews on this forum, I can say I'm still very happy with it. So first of all, thank you for your posts! This is the best notebook community I know.

Now to my problem, which I hope you can help me fix: A few days ago I had a static discharge sitting down on my couch, wearing my earphones while plugged in to the laptop. I felt the jolt in my ears, so I'm pretty sure it was a shortcut. Since then, the earhpone output volume is less than half of before, plus I only get sound in one ear (speakers are still working fine though). When I turn up the volume to full on the laptop, I can hear some sound on the other ear, but it's very low, and heavily distorted.

Can you help me with this? Presumably I have to exchange the output jack on the motherboard?. If so, do you have any tips? I downloaded the complete disassbemly guide from this forum, so I'm ready to go...

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Sascha

I'd suggest sending your laptop to Asus for repairs since it seems like invasive laptop surgery (mobo replacement) is needed.
