    I bought my W3V a week ago and I'm very happy with it, however the wireless LAN seem to be having some kind of trouble as its speed could vary from very good (54Mb) to very poor (1Mb) within a minute. My old notebook an Acer 340T would simply work stably all the time at the same location in the house.

    I've got WPA encryption enabled in the router (which is an Asus WL500G), the Acer 340T could work flawlessly with this.

    Windows's firewall is off, I even tried disabling Norton's firewall but that didn't help either.

    Is there anyway I can verify whether my problem is hardware or software related?

    Update the firmware on your router...... also make sure the router is set not to start and stop connections (thats a power saving feature) ... same with the notebook.

    Thanks,

    It's a known issue with the Intel Wlan card. http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/pro2915abg/index.htm

    Check and see if any of their fixes/workarounds help you out. If they don't, your only other option is to replace the card with something else (like a Dell TrueMobile).

    That doesn't sound good...

    Pro, BBQ.. have any of you noticed this with your W3V?

    If not, what router are you using?

    Thanks.

    uhhh... i couldn't figure it out. I reset EVERYTHING. Still it found no networks available.

    I let it go into hibernate. Brought it back live, and now it found all three networks again. Very strange.

    Well, I have a wireless router at home. There are also 2 other networks in range that my W3 normally "sees".

    Last night while I was using my laptop, I got disconnected from the wireless network. I restart, the laptop a few times. I restarted the wireless router a few times... now my W3 doesn't see ANY networks at all.

    I gave up last night and went to sleep. I am messing with it now to try to find out what is going on.

    Thanks for all the input so far, just wondering what's the chance that the wireless module in my rig is bad? I knew for ordinary network card the chance is nearly zero as I came through more than one thousand NICs throughout my life and I never heard a bad one !!!

    Just so you won't feel left out about this issue. I also experience the same problem. My wireless speed isn't stable either. I use a netgear router at home and a linksys at work and in both cases, my speed varies from 24, 36, 48, and 54 mbps at any given time. In rare instances, i lose connection or a split sec. but that is enough for my program to kick me out when it needs the network connection. Just notice my one dead pixel today but i'm not sweating it.

    For the dead pixel, make sure it isn't dust. At first I thought I had a dead pixel but it was just dust clinging onto the glossy screen... -_-;
