Using the Zenbook UX31 can I connect a second monitor using the micro HDMI port? I went and bought a micro hdmi cable and have been trying but i only see VGA as an option... this doesn't make sense because on my old ASUS I could do a normal HDMI cable to a second monitor with no issues.

You can get an adapter, but it will reduce picture quality: PROVANTAGE: Samsung AA-AH1NAMB/US Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter 1920X1080
Did you mean you only see a VGA port as an option? I thought the ultrabooks only had mini VGA as well. -
yeah it is a micro VGA port. But what is the point of the Micro HDMI port if I cant use it? I got an adapter and a cord for the micro hdmi. I am wanting to hook it up to my samsung tv, so the micro side would be in my zenbook and the regular hdmi side in the tv.

The output is controlled by the Intel HD graphics (the iGPU). Is your driver up to date?
