I'm in dire need of some assistance updating my Asus drivers (if thats even the problem).

    My machine:
    G2S (notebook)
    Core Duo 2.2
    Nvidia 8600M GT
    3gig ram
    Vista 32bit
    standard machine.

I'm trying to get Hellgate:London to run. And, unfortunately, it is not.

Problem: the game stutters for 1-2 seconds, every 1 second. I can't even get past the nice flashy game company logo's.

My problem seems to be the drivers. Since I do not have a deep knowledge of drivers/computers/graphics terminology, I'm at the mercy of your help and, well, my sledge hammer if I give up.

    1) Where can I download the latest Nvidia 8600M GT driver for Asus? (please don't say the web site, because I can't find it, even through a search).Where do I download this driver to (where do I put it?)?

I have downloaded 163.XX about 10 times. I am running Vista 32 bit (so my computer tells me). But when I try to apply the driver, it says "your computer is not running Windows Vista 32 bit". So then I download the 64 bit driver. and it tells me I'm not running 64 bit....ouch...?

Is there a particular driver suited for Hellgate or Directx10 games?

    2) DirectX10. The latest version of DirectX I seem to be able to download is 9c. Does this enable 10? What am I missing on Microsofts web site?

    3) Could there be something else I am missing or doing incorrectly?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    #1:
These are the latest drivers that have satisfied the most users for right now:

Make sure you install the modified .inf and replace the one that is unzipped with the drivers.

As for #2 I have not expertise, I'll let someone else tackle it. I bet #1 helps thought

I would bet that the stuttering you are having is drivers but not the video it has something to do with the real tech audio drivers and a microsoft knowlege base fix I can't find the realtech link google it and it should help

    Thanks for the replies!

I am a little behind on my driver/ini updating knowledge. What in fact should I be doing? Where is this ".INF" and what am I supposed to do with it?

    My OS is not pirated.

What is a Real Tech Driver? edit: the stuttering is audio and video. its as if my entire computer is lagging. (note all background apps turned off)

Sites are full of wonderful information, but none of it is distilled down for the poor guy that buys a computer and expects it to "work"! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help. But I'm still left unsure of where to put these drivers. I download the Realtek driver, and it just unpacks it without installing itself. Where does this driver go?

I know these are stupid questions for a forum like this, but seriously, how are all users supposed to figure out that to get their brand new computers to work they need to download 5 different drivers from 5 different companies and know exactly where to put them? Its absolutely insane.

I have the realtek downloaded, but i have absolutely no idea where the old one is....help

These drivers do the same thing. It's a 7-zip self extracting file. Make sure you indicate which folder you want it in (old or new). For example I usually make one called "nVidia 169.09 Drivers" or something like that.
