    Hi,
I just purchased the Asus M50sn-A1 and I have been trying to get the fingerprint scanner to work.

On my initial startup, the wizard started but erred out and I cannot get back to the wizard.

I have looked through all of my program files, and even the BIOS, but with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to enable it in the BIOS first. There should be a section in the menu covering this.

I have already gone through all of the options in the BIOS - including all of them in the security tab - no mention of a scanner or fingerprint security at all.

I have also gone though the Asus support CD that came with my laptop, and couldn't find any software or mention of the scanner.

    Check Vista.
I'm new to Vista but for some reasons laptops with XP do not have FPreader. I incline to think that FPsupport is Vista new feature. Try Vista help
Pardon me if I'm mistaken. I have this gadget for a third night and still feel lost

The fingerprint reader works perfectly on XP.
You don't have to enable anything in the BIOS. Just install the driver and the Asus Security Protect Management software.

Or if it's already installed, try removing it and installing again.
