Im a bit noobish when it comes to these type of things, i just received my Icd7 in the mail and im wondering on how to apply it
I found this pic of the g60-vx opened up and i kind of marked it to see if i kind of have an idea of what im doing.
Red line = that would be the cpu right ?
Blue line = im not sure if i have to apply the compound on this piece, need help on that
Black line = that would be the graphic card right ? how do i open that up to apply the compound?

Red: is where you put the CPU. In that image you have, the CPU isn't there. Just put a pea-sized blob in the middle of the CPU die (the silver reflective surface of the CPU).

Blue: this is the chipset. No need for thermal paste

Black: GPU, same process as the CPU.

On a side note, before applying ICD7, put the tube in warm-hot water. ICD7 is an extremely thick paste and has a higher viscosity than other thermal paste. Adding heat will making it easier for you to apply.

Also make sure you completely clean off the old thermal paste before applying the new. Use a thermal paste cleaner such as ArctiClean with a lint-free microcloth. You can also use rubbing alcohol as well.

Red is CPU, except in the picture it's missing the CPU. Just put a blob on the CPU core. You'll need to clean off that old thermal paste from the heatsink (right red).

Blue you don't need to touch. It has a thermal pad on it which you can just leave alone. No paste needed.

Black is GPU. When you unscrew the 2 screws, you'll have to take out the ENTIRE heatsink/fan assembly. The whole thing will just pop right out. You'll also have to scrape off the thermal paste on the GPU heatsink before applying the ICD7.

If yours is anything like mine, you'll see about a 10C drop in GPU temps (mine went from 97C to 86C max)

blue line = would that be the screws that i need to take off to remove the gpu?
red line= when i remove the screws do i just pull off the fan so the gpu can come off??

There should only be 2 screws holding the GPU down (2 left ones). The other 3 you circled aren't part of the heatsink. That whole fan will come out. Just lift the GPU heatsink and pull the fan to the left and the WHOLE unit will come out.

Be sure to be careful. Asus has a sticker on top of the screw usually for the CPU. Be careful to take off that sticker and not rip it and place it back after you are done.

Doing the above will hopefully allow you to keep your warranty.

    About the warm water thing.
Make sure there is no water on the ICD7 tube itself.
Shake the crap out of it to make sure no water gets trapped on the plunger.
I made this mistake once and nearly had a heart attack when I seen a small drop of water fall out of the tube when I was squeezing the paste onto the CPU
Fortunately It didn't fall anywhere that affected the computer.
    Just be careful.
It is a very good thermal paste but a little of a pain when applying and removing.

We Asus owners are a haphazard bunch.
