First of all, that God for finding this forum. The Asus forum is worse than uselesss. It's like being caught in a void. No help, no responses.

I just upgraded by G50vt to Windows 7 via an upgrade disc from Asus. Worked fine. HOWEVER their driver disc keep destroying my computer. The first couple of drivers fail to intall properly. I've tried three times, I"m currently on my fourth install of Windows 7. I refuse to put that driver disc back into my machine, hence I have not installed ANY Asus drivers.

My biggest problem was that my trackpad died everytime I installed the Asus and Synaptic drivers. The buttons would stop working and the mouse acted irratically.

What drivers MUST I install from Asus?

The only place where a ! warning flag is raised in under Other device: Base system devices.
    I seem to be missing

    Device type - Other devices
    Manufacturer - Unknown
    Location - PCI bus 7, device 1, Function 3

    Device type - Other devices
    Manufacturer - Unknown
    Location - PCI bus 7, device 1, Function 2

If I do an "update driver" I get a response that windows cant locate it online

Try running windows update a couple of times. It seems to pick up all of the drivers for my asus machines.

Another thing that will help is if you give us the device ids. My thoughts would be a remote control, fingerprint scanner, ro atk acpi.
