My W3J's battery is no longer charging, the laptop works fine under AC power and can run OK on the remaining battery power when I unplug it. However when the laptop is plugged in the orange battery light does not go on and the battery doesn't charge (the power meter in windows always shows 100% when plugged in but correct value when unplugged).
I've tried putting in the second battery but it doesn't charge either. Surely both batteries can't have gone bad simultaneously which leads me to believe the problem might lie in the recharging circuit of the laptop. It's not an OS problem because the battery doesn't even charge when the laptop is off.
This really sucks because this means once my battery is depleted it can never be charged again. What can be done to fix this?
Things I've tried that have failed:
- Trying another charger (universal)
- Resetting the laptop
- Using the battery calibration in the BIOS
I really need your help on this one.

Try this:
Enter bios on startup and load default settings..
That worked for me when my battery stopped charging..
Couldnt hurt to try. -
I tried what you suggested, unfortunately it didn't work
The battery doesn't charge even when the laptop is off, I don't think this could be related to the BIOS. -
Bump. I'm kinda desperate here

Wow... well can someone at least point me to a forum where I could get some help with this issue?

Bump. Still not working.

How long have you had these batteries for? If you've had them since your W3J purchase, it may be a dead battery which needs to be replaced. If your second battery is new, then it could be an issue with your motherboard and will need to be checked out at an Asus service center.

Hi David, I've had it for 3 years.. I don't think it's a battery issue because the main battery is still holding the old charge.
Would a faulty mobo cause the charging circuitry to stop working? How much would getting that fixed cost?
Thanks for taking the time to help! -
If it's just the DC-in board that needs replacing, Asus will charge $15 + service fees since your notebook is now out of warranty. If the problem persists beyond the DC-in board, then the entire motherboard will likely need to be replaced. The motherboard alone will cost $200 which probably won't be worth getting it replaced.
Help, W3J battery not charging!
