Hi, I'm torn between these two laptops. I'm leaning towards g1sn because the specs listed here (Indonesia) shows the videocard as having gddr3. anybody seen a g1sn equipped with gddr3? if they're both in fact gddr2, what are the main diffrences between the 2? for the same specs, m50sv is $200 cheaper here. please help!

If the GPU in the G1Sn is 8600m GT 256mb, then it's a GDDR3. If it's a 9500m GS 512mb it's DDR2. These 2 cards performs about the same. The 9500m GS is a die-shrink of the 8600m GT, therefore is more efficient. Hence, 9500m GS DDR2 performance is about equal to 8600m GT GDDR3.

G1Sn has a higher res screen, OLED on board display, green lights, and all the other features you can read/see on the product page

M50Sv has a lower res screen, number pad, fingerprint reader, and a more modest design.

    CORRECTION:

    9500m GS = 8600m GT DDR2

    the 8600m GT DDR3 > 9500m GS

other features on these two models:

the G1Sn has terrible speakers. The screen of the M50 series is quite bad. Look for the M51 series.

Actually, no... 9500m GS does not = to the 8600m GT DDR2 in performance. It's slightly better.
and Yes, the 8600m GT GDDR3 is better than the 9500m GS but by 3-5% in performance shown in 3dmark06 (which is about the same to me).

No. Asus' current lineup is complete, and there is nothing on the Intel roadmap or anything else that they would do an update for in the next 2 months with SantaRosa. At this point nothing new is likely to be released until they get around to their Montevina updates (probably around August-September, with 1-3 months to work all the way through the lineup, if history is any guide).

Midrange, and it depends on where your gaming tastes lie. You aren't going to be playing high-end games at max settings, but they all should be serviceable at medium sets if you can live with it. What many would consider truly "gaming enthusiast" notebooks push you into Sager/Clevo.

Both will run those games listed as well should run current games on medium settings for a while.

Love the sagers, my previous notebooks are sagers. my 8890 is still running well with no problems, almost 5 years old. but since relocating to indonesia, my options are limited. I'm not crazy with the graphics, more than happy if it can run on medium for a while.
