    The options are:

    Asus Z71v :

    15'4 WSXGA (1680 x 1050)
    2.0 Ghz Pentium-M 760
    128mb dedicated DDR2 Nvidia 6600
    100 GB HD (5400 rpm)
    2 GB DDR2 (533 Mhz)
    8x DVD+-R (DL)
    4 in 1 card reader
    Internal 56k modem / wireless 802.11 a+b+g/ 10/100/1000 ethernet/LAN
    Lithium battery

    Or Sager NP 3880

    15'4 TFT WUXGA (1920 x 1200)
    2.0 Ghz Pentium-M 760
    128mb dedicated DDR2 Nvidia 6600
    100 GB HD (5400 rpm)
    2 GB DDR2 (533 Mhz)
    8x DVD+-R (DL) w/ lightscribe
    4 in 1 card reader
    Internal 56k modem / wireless 802.11 a+b+g/ 10/100/1000 ethernet/LAN
    Lithium battery
    Integrated web-cam (640x480)

Another option would be sager 4880

Both have almost same price at discountlaptops.com . What about image quality, heat generated, overall quality, etc ?
What about abspc.com, anyone here ever dealt with them?

WUXGA will strain your eyesight for surfing and office type

applications.Only good for graphics and 3-d rendering.

For regular work you would be better with a WSXGA.

I'd agree with lapboy, the lettering will be awfully small especially if you have never seen one, some do like it though. They sell some 17" notebooks at Best Buy/Circuit City with WUXGA screens if you check them out as a point of reference. Keeping in mind the Sager screen size is 1.5 inches smaller. I have the SXGA screen on my T42, It is as small as I personally would go. Good Luck.

I was robbed by a sweet little old lady on a motorized cart and I didn't even see it coming.

WUXGA on a 15.4" screen is fantastic... for about two weeks. I had it on my old Inspiron 8600. I loved WUXGA at first, but very soon I found myself constantly squinting and having to lean forward to see text clearly. My z70v has WSXGA+ and it's perfect for a 15.4" screen.

I'd recommend the Asus z71v over the Sager 3880. You'll get a much lighter notebook with better battery life (that 3880 battery looks like some kind of giant hemmorhoid hanging off the back... I know, that's an awfully graphic analogy). I'll bet the graphics performance will be virtually identical.

The Sager 4880 has a better graphics card (ATI X700), but its screen is lousy.

the sager has a better screen and their card seems to clock better even tho they're the same. but the sager also weighs about a pound more.

The other thing to keep in mind is that if you plan on playing games, the lower res screen is acually much better as even the best mobile gpu will strugle to play modern games at WUXGA res...thus you would be playing the game at a non-native res....this can often look biy blurry and well to be honest kinda defeats the purpose of having a super sharp screen and kick-arse gpu. Thus unless your a graphic artist or need the res for a specific reason, I would highly recommend going lower. I really like my WSXGA screen but games dont look as good as they should...after having this screen for a year, I am really really glad i didnt go WUXGA....and if I had my time again would probably have gotten the standard WXGA screen instead.

WUXGA looks perfect on my 23" widescreen...... but I'm a graphic professional and think WSXGA+ is more than enough on a 15.4" widescreen... To me the area I've got would be aboud the same.

    Thanks,

I agree. Dont see much point for wuxga unless you are a day trader or you rely on having more then a couple windows open simultaneously on the screen. If you do you should have good eye sight. Underpant man is correct. You will never see the wuxga res on games. Almost imposible to get that res with later games. I personally think wsxga+ res is a bit too high on 15.4" screen but most will find it acceptable.

Yeah, WUXGA is great on my desktop Dell 24" widescreen, too. As a writer, I work with a lot of windows open at once. The extra screen real estate is great. I have an ATI X800XT graphics card, so games look and run very well at WUXGA and even lower resolutions.

If I wanted a gaming notebook, the lower screen resolution, such as WXGA, would be my choice. That's the best way to play the latest games on a notebook. For writing and graphics on a notebook, WSXGA+ works best for me.

In my opinion, anything but Clevo / Sager. They are butt ugly

I'd venture as far to say this....

13" widescreen - WXGA is perfect

15.4" widescreen - WSXGA is perfect

23" widescreen - WUXGA is perfect....

Now..... on a 12" widescreen like the W5.. WXGA it is a little high I think... I like it, but it's a high res for that screen.... I also think that WSXGA+ is a little high even on a 15.4" .. but again, it's nice for a lot of things.......

You'll still see WXGA on a 15.4" and even some 17" and most people would call that a normal res....

    Thanks,
    Justin
