Under the advanced tab in the power options, I have it set so that it goes into standby when the lid is closed. However, for some reason, after about 15 minutes the computer will wake up from standby and go into hibernate!!

This is annoying because hibernate seems to mess things up, and it takes even longer to startup than when the power is off...

I looked in the power management and power gear but couldn't figure out how to fix this...

    can anyone help?

You can disable hibernate. I don't recommend using it at all unless you need to.
