From i5-450M to the next processor upgrade (i5-520M) on Asus laptops is $259 USD !!! Where as on Sager its only $60 USD

Why such huge price difference ? Is it a typo or real difference ?

    From where? For what laptop(s)?

There could be a lot more work involved to upgrade it. The G73, for example, is a bit of a beast to get that far into.

Its because Asus Ensemble laptops come premade to the reseller. To replace the processor, the reseller has to buy the proc for full retail so they charge you that. It's not as if they can just have Asus do the upgrade. Keep in mind that warranties might be voided when you have a processor upgrade.

FYI, Sager notebooks also custom made by reseller with valid warranty and they might be also buying the processors as you are saying for Asus.

For example any i5 laptop from Asus ( U53JC-A1) and any i5 laptop from Sager ( NP5125) and from SAME reseller, XoticPC.

Hmm may have to contact a reseller. I was always under the impression that Sager were assembled by the reseller not pre-assembled (GPU/CPU).
