I just did a complete system restore of my Asus A52F. I read a guide on how to solve this issue before and it always worked. I'd go into the HKEY directory, change the DWORD to 0 and go to Power Management and disable the idle processor. Upon my laptop, the noise was back obviously, I went through the motions but when I came to the Processor Power Management, there was no option to turn off the idle. I was just left with a list of
    -Minimum Processor State
    -System Cooling policy
    -Maximum processor state

I don't understand what happened unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I tried fiddling with the setting in these three options which did nothing to stop the sound.

    UPDATE:

The problem has been fixed. I saw where I goofed when I went back into the registry. I changed the wrong number to 0 instead of the 1 in Attributes.
