Hi, first of all i'm italian and sorry for my bad english.
I bought a laptop with these components:
Intel P8400 (proudly downvolted to 0,900 and rock solid stable :D)
    Ati mobility 3470
    4gb ddr2 ram and 250gb hd(useless infos)

after some minutes the cpu goes to 50° @ idle and 54 @full with downvolt and 62° without it.
Gpu set stable @ 42° in idle and 49° in full.

hard drive goes 52° and sometime 60°!

i've unmounted the chassis , temp degrees of 2° for each component.

I don't know what to do , i've updated bios and downvolted...
maybe the arctic silver can resolve this issue ?
    thanks...

I think the idle temperature on the CPU may be a bit high, but the load temps are not high at all (makes sense, given your undervolt). Even the idle temp may be normal for your particular computer.

The HDD reaching 60 on the other hand, that makes me worry. HDDs are most comfortable if they typically run under 50 or not much above it. Arctic silver won't help much with the HDD, I'm afraid. Perhaps something disturbs the airflow around the HDD?

Is the laptop new? If it's not, then perhaps a good cleaning of the fan + heat radiator would help (they may be full of dust).

Yep, I saw you said you just bough it but I though it might have been 2nd hand. :)

That CPU temperature, while perhaps higher than one would expect, is no reason for serious worries I believe.

It depends, I've seen reports of temperature drops starting from only 2 degrees up to more than 5. You can try it, but the (severe) downside is that you would be voiding the warranty by removing the heatsink.

An alternative is to send it to ASUS and have them try to fix the issue. Where are you located? (the reason I'm asking is that the quality of ASUS support varies wildly across the world)

Duh! Yeah. That's what happens when I only read the latest posts in the thread. :) Italy... I don't remember for sure any reports of the quality of ASUS support there, but I believe there was one and it wasn't so good.

I would recommend you just wait until the summer and see how it works. I it doesn't get too hot, you can leave it as it is. Make sure you clean it regularly though (say once every few months).
