    I used to watch the W90, but it has seemed to disappear from the stores I was watching.

    SO what is the High performance offering from ASUS now, competing with something like teh ALienware M17x ?

    Thx in advance
    J

    Not nearly as powerful as the AW, but you can take a look at the G71Vx.

    Thanks for that

    The G51 and G71 compete with the base, single GTX260m M17x, but there isn't anything more powerful currently being offered by Asus.

    If you live in the US, XoticPc, GenTech & ExcaliberPc are some of the best retailers to buy one. They also offer customization for it.

    It's been discontinued.

    Many people say that Asus was merely "testing the waters" so to speak of the high-end gaming notebook market. That, coupled with the recent economic downturn as well as the numerous issues and complaints people have had with the W90, most likely diminished the model's profit margin to a point at which Asus could no longer afford to continue producing it.

    Thoughts ?
    is this as good as the UXGA+ the Dell Alienware m17x has ?

    I cannot get the m17x for a resonable price in canada, full pop 3,000 $ +, so goodbye dell for me in canada...

    Take care

    I second Xotic; I say go to them and get the cheaper G51. I also think you should have them add the ICD7 on it as well to help cool it.

    ICD7 = Innovative Cooling Diamond 7

    It's a thermal paste that uses crushed diamonds. Much better than AS5.
